MISSIONS ON THE MOVE

Oeut & Nhep Pech (FEB International in Cambodia)

Mark and Ruth Anna Dana/Martin and Naomi Tetrault; Camp Kwayakotage, Rapid Lake, NW Quebec

Oeut & Nhep Pech (FEB International in Cambodia)

Oeut and Nhep are survivors of the PolPot regime that devastated their people and nation in the 1970's.  Nhep is a dentist trained in Kampong Cham in Cambodia.  Together, with their team, they bring dental care to the poorer areas of their country.  Through this outreach, they have founded four churches in different villages.

Our church "put on" the terra cotta roof for the new church at Boksnor with funds raised as an Easter offering.  This building is also used for the dental clinics, mid-week Bible studies and a primary school for children whose families can't afford the uniforms required for public schools.

Nhep teaches at the local university and with her husband, Oeut, welcome students to study the Scriptures in their home and enjoy a meal together.

Shu Yin Wong - Staff Director Intervarsity

Mark and Ruth Anna Dana/Martin and Naomi Tetrault; Camp Kwayakotage, Rapid Lake, NW Quebec

Oeut & Nhep Pech (FEB International in Cambodia)

Staff since: April 2005

Shu Yin loves staff and students because God loves them first. She equips staff and students to live out the gospel of Jesus Christ on campus and throughout the world.

She loves seeing staff and students encounter God’s love and truth. Her educational background includes studying human resources and religion

.

One of her favourite things to do is watch documentaries. An impactful Bible verse for her is Romans 3:22-24 (NIV): This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.Running a holiday sale or weekly special? The Danas have been in ministry for 41 years bringing the love of Jesus Christ into the lives of native people through camps, visiting in prison, through their radio broadcasts. https://arrowheadradio.podbean.com/  Mark himself is of the Penobscot (Eastern Abenaki) nation. They live in NB.  Having led the camp for many years, they are now passing on the baton to Naomi, their daughter and son-in-law, Martin. Their primary role is the connection to the Algonquin First Nations community at Rapid Lake. Martin leads a teen canoe trip for boys and keeps in touch with them throughout the year.

Wycliffe Bible Translators

Translating Scripture, Transforming Lives

Together with partners worldwide, we serve indigenous people through language-related ministries, especially Bible translation and literacy.  Our goal is to empower local communities to express God's love in both Word and deed.  The result is personal, social and spiritual transformation.

Wycliffe invites like-minded people in Canada to participate through prayer, service and funding.  Nearly 2,300 minority language groups still wait for the power of God working though their own language.

Due to circumstances in the country, the missionary cannot be identified.

Teddy is a skilled carpenter who uses this as a way of making good contacts with teen boys and young men in difficulty.

Linda is a skilled counsellor with a compassionate heart for teen girls and young women in distress.

Murrell grew up in Greenfield Park and attended our church with his family.  He and Jeanelle have served as teachers in Christian schools in South Korea, Japan and now in Nairobi, Kenya.  Murrell oversees the chapels, teaches Bible classes, organizes community service projects for the students and coaches the boys basketball in the highschool.  Jeannelle teaches upper level English in the same school and co-ordinates the worship and praise teams for their chapels.

Both are involved in their local church: Murrell is an elder and often preaches.  Our church is blessed with the messages he has brought to us by zoom during the time of our search for a new pastor.  Jeanelle leads a weekly women's Bible study.

They have 10 year old twins; a boy, Isaiah and a girl, Jayelyn.

Welcome Hall Mission

Options Crisis Pregnancy Center - Youth Unlimited

FEB - Fellowship Evangelical Baptists

Welcome Hall has been a viable ministry in downtown Montreal since 1892.  It has responded to changing needs and vulnerable people ever since.  Their particular focus has been homeless men to give them shelter, meals and counselling.  This has expanded to helping families and youths, always putting first their need for dignity through the love of Jesus.

For more history, see The Least of These by Allan Swift; Doing Good Things Better by Sam Watts, the current director.

International Justice Mission (IJM)

Options Crisis Pregnancy Center - Youth Unlimited

Over 2 million children in 25 impoverished countries are being given Jesus' hope for a better future through individual sponsorship.  Children take part in a program in their community which is linked with the local church.  The benefit is evident.  Those children in the program are more likely to finish high-school, get a good job and be active in their church.  Sponsors are invited to correspond with their child.  Sometimes a visit can be arranged.
